" Data Mode Go to Free “Why I am supporting Rt Hon Emeka Ihedioha CON, KSC” By Sir Stan Ekezie Those who know me well are aware that I am not a coward, sycophant or political praise singer, My support for Ihedioha is not selfish, I have never gained anything from him or approached him for any favours. At my age I have learnt that it is important to put the interest of the people of Imo State over mine. I have stayed long enough in diaspora, I want to go home and in order to do this, I need a governor who will create the enabling environment for me to prosper as I have done outside the state. 16 years ago at the golden gates chinese restaurant in Lagos, I and some friends organised a fund raising dinner for Rt Hon Emeka Ihedioha, he was aspiring to represent Aboh Mbaise and Ngor Okpala local Governments at the National Assembly. This is by far one of the greatest gifts I have given to my in-laws from Ezinihitte in particular and the Imo people at large. That singular decision to invest and participate in that event may have helped to mould, shape and prepare a man who is destined to be the next Governor of Imo State. I believe there is no power on earth that can stop a man whose time has come. Rt Hon Ihedioha represented his Federal constituency three consecutive times, on each occasion he surpassed his previous achievements. As a first timer he became a force to be reckoned with and chaired very important committees, second time he was majority chief whip and on the third occasion he became the Deputy Speaker. The progressive nature of this man’s involvement in governance leaves no doubt that if elected, he will again record unprecedented milestones as the Executive Governor of Imo State Prior to his emergence as Deputy Speaker the office was relatively unknown, Ihedioha in his usually manner transformed this position into one of national repute and importance. He used the platform to attract major developments to his Federal constituency and the entire imo state. There is hardly any zone which didn’t benefit from him, both in infrastructural and human capital development. No wonder the Mbaise nation came together and bestowed on him the uncommon traditional title of Omenkahurunanya (one who does visible things) Ihedioha and his compatriots in the National Assembly emerged as members of the house leadership against the will of the executive arm of government. That singular rebellion against an executive arm of government which insisted on foisting on them, a speaker under their control paved the way for the level of independence currently enjoyed by the National Assembly today. Ladies and gentle, brothers and sisters of Imo state, the time for politics of self interest is over, we must put the interest of our dear state above ours. All well meaning citizens of our dear State will agree with me that Ihedioha is arguably the most qualified of the major players in the Imo Gubernatorial race. He has the requisite knowledge, the cerebral capacity and an uncommon level of Intergrity required to govern our great state. Having served in both the executive and legislative arm of government, he has the required experience to bring about synergy in governance. May God help us make an informed decision - - - Sir Stanley Ekezie
